Last Updated: April 2026

Patch 26.7 dropped on April 1st, and while Riot's busy hiding muscular poros in ARAM and turning minions into impostors, the ranked ladder doesn't care about April Fools. You still need to pick the right champions if you want LP.

This tier list is built from win rate data across Emerald+ from u.gg, Mobalytics, and Lolalytics, filtered through what actually works for climbing — not just what looks good on a stat sheet. A champion with a 54% win rate and a 0.5% pick rate isn't helping you; we prioritize champions that are strong, consistent, and practical to pick up.

Patch 26.7 is a light balance patch. Riot's shifting focus toward the Season 2 update next month, so most of the meta carries over from 26.6 with a few tweaks: Nami and Karma got nerfed in the support pool, Rell got buffed, Graves lost base AD, and Cassiopeia got some love. The macro meta is stable, which means this is a great patch to grind — the champions you invest in now won't get carpet-bombed next patch.

How Our Tier List Works

Every champion gets placed into one of five tiers per role:

  • S Tier — The best picks right now. High win rates, strong in the meta, worth one-tricking or adding to your pool immediately.
  • A Tier — Reliable, strong champions that win games consistently. You won't go wrong picking these.
  • B Tier — Solid middle-of-the-pack. They work if you're experienced on them, but they don't carry the meta.
  • C Tier — Below average. You need to significantly outskill your opponent to make these work.
  • D Tier — Actively bad right now. Play them for fun in normals, not for LP.

We weight win rate (Emerald+), pick rate, ban rate, and how forgiving the champion is for the average ranked player. A mechanically insane champion with a 53% win rate exclusively among one-tricks gets rated lower than a 52% win rate champion that anyone can pick up and succeed with.

Top Lane Tier List — Patch 26.7

Top lane in 26.7 continues to favor durable champions that can impact teamfights. Ornn took a small W nerf (Brittle proc down from 10-18% to 9-17%), but he's still a top-tier tank. Singed got his R stats reduced, which nudges him down slightly.

S Tier

  • Ambessa — Still the queen of top lane. Her kit is overloaded for skirmishing and she transitions into a teamfight monster. If she's open and you can play her, pick her.
  • GarenMobalytics' experts list him as the #1 top laner for climbing in 26.7, and for good reason. Zero mechanical barrier, insane sustain, and Decisive Strike punishes every positioning mistake. Below Diamond, Garen is free LP.
  • K'Sante — High skill ceiling but his numbers are just too good right now. Dominant in lane, dominant in teamfights, and his ult lets him 1v1 anyone.
  • Ornn — The Brittle nerf is barely noticeable. He still upgrades items for his team, still has one of the best engage ultimates in the game, and still wins lanes he has no business winning.

A Tier

  • Jax — Counterstrike is still one of the most powerful basic abilities in the game. Scales hard, splits well, teamfights when he needs to.
  • Darius — The lane bully who punishes anyone who doesn't respect his pull range. Falls off late, but most ranked games don't go late enough for that to matter.
  • Mordekaiser — Point-and-click ultimate removes the enemy carry from teamfights. Simple, effective, terrifying.
  • Sett — Grit-empowered W one-shots squishies and he's nearly impossible to dive. Great blind pick.
  • Camille — Hookshot engage into Hextech Ultimatum is still one of the most reliable pick tools in solo queue. Needs hands, but rewards them.

B Tier

  • Renekton, Fiora, Aatrox, Riven, Volibear, Urgot

C Tier

  • Gangplank, Jayce, Kennen, Singed (nerfed this patch), Teemo

D Tier

  • Ryze (top), Akshan (top)

Jungle Tier List — Patch 26.7

Graves lost 2 base AD this patch (68 → 66), which chips away at his early clear speed and dueling. It's not enough to kill him, but it opens the door for other junglers to contest him.

S Tier

  • NocturneMobalytics' #1 jungle pick for climbing. Paranoia is the best solo queue ultimate for forcing plays, and his clear speed is excellent. Press R, kill the ADC, win the game.
  • Viego — Possession resets in teamfights are broken in uncoordinated solo queue. He snowballs harder than almost any other jungler.
  • Graves — Even post-nerf, his clear is fast, his dueling is strong, and he scales. The base AD hit moves him from "clearly #1" to "still S tier."
  • Shyvana — The rework is still performing well. She came in strong and the hotfix balanced her, but she's still a stat-check dragon with great objective control.

A Tier

  • Warwick — The best jungler for learning the role. His blood trail passive basically tells you where to gank. Absurd sustain, simple kit, high impact.
  • Vi — Point-and-click R onto the enemy carry is the definition of "pick a target and delete them." Reliable engage that doesn't require team coordination.
  • Jarvan IV — Flag-and-drag is one of the most versatile engage tools in the game. Cataclysm traps immobile carries. Great at every stage of the game.
  • Lee Sin — High skill ceiling, but in the right hands he dictates the entire pace of the game. If you've put in the reps, he's S tier for you.
  • Lillia — Her AP scaling and teamfight ultimate make her a late-game menace. Solid clear, great at setting up teamfights.

B Tier

  • Elise, Sejuani, Zac, Kindred, Kayn, Hecarim

C Tier

  • Nidalee, Qiyana (jungle), Taliyah (jungle), Rek'Sai

D Tier

  • Rengar (low elo), Ivern (below Diamond)

Mid Lane Tier List — Patch 26.7

Mid lane is the most diverse role in 26.7. No single champion dominates, which means your champion pool matters more than ever. Cassiopeia got a base mana buff (450 → 480) and E damage increase, which should help her early laning, but she's still a high-execution pick. Veigar's R cooldown increase (100/80/60 → 120/90/60) at lower ranks hurts his mid-game power spike.

S Tier

  • AhriThe #1 mid for climbing per Mobalytics. Charm is the best basic ability catch tool in mid lane, her mobility makes her safe, and she's relevant at every point in the game. The perfect solo queue mid laner.
  • Aurora — Her skirmishing is oppressive and her ultimate zone control wins teamfights. Strong roams, strong laning, strong scaling.
  • Syndra — Consistent burst, long range, and her scatter-the-weak stun punishes anyone who walks forward. She controls every lane matchup.

A Tier

  • Hwei — Unique kit with incredible versatility. His poke, waveclear, and utility make him useful even when behind.
  • Viktor — The late-game scaling monster. Once he completes his hex core upgrades, his teamfight damage is absurd.
  • Galio — Semi-global ultimate, tanky for a mid laner, and his taunt sets up teamfights. Great for players who want to roam and support their team.
  • Twisted Fate — Destiny + gold card is the most impactful roaming tool in the game. Macro wins games, and TF is the macro champion.
  • Vex — Anti-mobility mage that counters half the meta. Her ultimate resets in teamfights if she gets a kill. Excellent for punishing dashes.
  • Cassiopeia — Buffed this patch and rewards players who can kite and position. Not easy, but devastating when piloted well.

B Tier

  • Lux, Malzahar, Orianna, Yone, Katarina, Zed

C Tier

  • Veigar (nerfed), Azir, Ryze, LeBlanc (below Diamond), Corki

D Tier

  • ASol (post-nerfs), Qiyana (mid)

ADC Tier List — Patch 26.7

Kalista got a meaningful E scaling buff this patch (bonus AD per stack: 20-40% → 20-50%), which rewards aggressive Kalista players who stack Rend properly. She's creeping up. Otherwise, the bot lane meta is stable.

S Tier

  • JinxMobalytics' top ADC for climbing. Passive resets in teamfights turn her into a gatling gun of death. She's been consistently strong all season and 26.7 doesn't change that.
  • Jhin — Fourth-shot crits, long-range curtain call picks, and he doesn't require the micro-intensive kiting of other ADCs. Great for players who prefer ability-based marksmen.
  • Kai'Sa — Hybrid damage, stealth on E evolution, and one of the best ADC ultimates for repositioning in fights. Versatile build paths keep opponents guessing.

A Tier

  • Ashe — Her utility is unmatched: Hawkshot provides vision, Enchanted Crystal Arrow is a cross-map engage, and approach velocity + slows make her kiting effortless.
  • Miss Fortune — Bullet Time wins teamfights. She's simple, she's strong, and she punishes teams that group too tightly.
  • Kalista — The E buff this patch is meaningful. If you have a duo support partner, Kalista's Oathsworn synergy is nasty. Solo queue without a duo? Drop her a tier.
  • Caitlyn — Longest base auto range among ADCs means she bullies lane for free. Headshot traps in chokepoints are solo queue gold.
  • Draven — If you have the hands, Draven snowballs harder than any other ADC. His passive gold generation from kills accelerates him past the competition.

B Tier

  • Tristana, Xayah, Samira, Lucian, Vayne, Ezreal

C Tier

  • Sivir, Aphelios, Twitch, Kog'Maw (without dedicated support)

D Tier

  • Zeri, Smolder (low elo)

Support Tier List — Patch 26.7

The biggest support shakeup this patch. Nami's W bounce modifier got nerfed (-10% → -20% base, but better AP scaling), which hurts her early-mid and shifts her toward AP-heavy builds. Karma's empowered E shield dropped significantly (50/100/150/200 → 45/85/125/165). Meanwhile, Rell got E movement speed and R damage buffs, making her a real contender again.

S Tier

  • ThreshThe #1 support for climbing per Mobalytics. Hook, flay, lantern, box — his kit has everything. He's mechanically demanding, but even a mediocre Thresh provides more utility than most supports.
  • Nautilus — Point-and-click R that locks someone down for an eternity. His hook is wide, his CC chain is long, and he's a walking crowd-control machine.
  • Lulu — The best peel support in the game. Whimsy shuts down assassins, Wild Growth saves your ADC, and Pix + Glitterlance poke is annoying in lane.

A Tier

  • Rell — Buffed this patch and she's back. The E and R buffs give her more chase-down potential and teamfight damage. If you liked Rell before, now's the time to pick her back up.
  • Blitzcrank — One hook wins the game. In solo queue, where people don't respect bushes, Blitzcrank is a terror.
  • Leona — All-in engage with Zenith Blade + Shield of Daybreak locks people down for 2+ seconds. She's feast-or-famine, but the feast is very filling.
  • Janna — Monsoon is one of the best disengage ultimates in the game. She counters engage-heavy comps and her shield AD buff makes your ADC hit harder.
  • Milio — His Cozy Campfire cleanse is uniquely powerful. One well-timed R turns a lost teamfight into a won one.

B Tier

  • Nami (nerfed but still decent), Karma (nerfed), Soraka, Pyke, Rakan, Braum

C Tier

  • Senna (support), Yuumi, Tahm Kench, Bard (below Diamond)

D Tier

  • Heimerdinger (support), Teemo (support)

How to Actually Use This Tier List to Climb

A tier list is a starting point, not a cheat code. Here's how to translate these rankings into LP.

Pick 2-3 champions per role, max. Your champion pool should be tight. A player with 200 games on a B-tier champion will beat someone with 15 games on an S-tier champion every time. Mastery beats meta.

Think about your specific elo. Garen is S-tier because he's incredible below Diamond. If you're in Masters+, you already know your champs and this tier list is more of a meta snapshot than a guide. The champions rated here are weighted toward what works in Emerald and below, where 80%+ of the ranked population plays.

Don't chase flavor-of-the-month picks. The best champions for climbing are ones you play consistently. If you swap your main every patch based on tier lists, your fundamentals will stay stagnant. Use this list to validate your existing pool or find a new champion to commit to — not to play a different champion every game.

Duo queue changes everything. Kalista jumps from A to S tier with a coordinated support. Draven with a Thresh or Nautilus is disgusting. If you're duoing, factor in synergy, not just individual champion strength. The best duo combos in 26.7: Jinx + Thresh, Kai'Sa + Nautilus, and Kalista + Rell (post-buff).

Want to practice with a teammate who actually communicates? Find a League of Legends duo partner on Tapin — whether you need a support main to lane with or a jungler who ganks your lane before the enemy jungler camps you.

The Hidden Edge: Why Playing With Better Players Accelerates Your Climb

Tier lists tell you what to play. They don't teach you how to play it.

The fastest way to improve isn't grinding 500 solo queue games on autopilot. It's playing with someone better than you who can point out mistakes in real time. Every coach will tell you the same thing: you don't know what you don't know, and bad habits compound over hundreds of games.

That's where Tapin comes in. Instead of watching a 40-minute VOD review, you can queue up with an experienced player who calls out your positioning, your wave management, your teamfight focus — live, in the moment, when it actually matters. It's the difference between reading about swimming and having someone in the pool with you.

The reality is that most players plateau not because they're bad, but because they lack feedback loops. Imagine playing your next 20 ranked games with someone actively coaching your decision-making in real time. Even small adjustments — like learning to track the enemy jungler's second buff — can be worth 2-3 divisions over a split. Ranked anxiety also drops when you're not alone; having a teammate who has your back makes the grind feel less like a coin flip. Ultimately, improvement in League is about deliberate practice, and deliberate practice requires someone to tell you what to practice. Players who invest in their improvement early in a season see the biggest returns — and with the Season 2 update coming next month, now is the perfect time to level up.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best champion to climb ranked in League of Legends right now?

It depends on your role, but for pure climbing efficiency in Patch 26.7: Garen (Top), Nocturne (Jungle), Ahri (Mid), Jinx (ADC), and Thresh (Support). These champions combine high win rates with accessible kits that don't require hundreds of games to learn.

How often does the LoL tier list change?

Every two weeks with each new patch. Major balance patches can reshuffle tier lists significantly, while lighter patches (like 26.7) mostly preserve the existing meta. We update this tier list within 48 hours of each patch going live, using at least 3 days of post-patch data.

Should I always pick S-tier champions?

No. Champion mastery matters more than tier placement. A player with 300 games on a B-tier champion will consistently outperform someone who just picked up an S-tier champion for the first time. Use the tier list to inform your pool — not to dictate it.

Is this tier list for all ranks?

This tier list is optimized for Iron through Diamond — roughly 95% of the ranked population. If you're in Master+ and above, you're already adapting to the meta in real time and should prioritize matchup-specific picks over generalized tier lists.

What changed in Patch 26.7 for ranked?

Patch 26.7 is a small balance patch. Nami and Karma got nerfed in support, Rell got buffed, Graves lost base AD, Cassiopeia got buffed, Singed and Ornn took small nerfs, and Veigar's R cooldown went up early. Ranked also now gives full LP refunds (instead of partial) when disruptive behavior like AFKing or trolling is detected.
